Newsletter 4, 16th March 2016

Greetings,

 Rottnest Camp

The Year Six class will be travelling to Rottnest Island for their camp from the 21-23 March. Myself, Mrs Kaaks, Mrs Maslin and Mr Glenn Brown will be attending the camp. Thank you to Mr Brown for making yourself available to assist with the camp.

During the camp the students will be involved in an Adventure Cycle Challenge, Eco-Express Adventure Cruise, Star Gazing, snorkeling and a tour of Oliver Hill guns and WW2 tunnels.

Students need to be at the B Shed, Fremantle by 8.30am on Monday morning. They will return to the B Shed Fremantle at 3.00pm on Wednesday 23rd. Please refer to the camp note for all the camp requirements.

Harmony Day

Thank you to the fundraising committee for arranging the sausage sizzle for Harmony Day lunch. This year we recognised Harmony Day early as our Year 6 class will be away in camp during Harmony Day. Whilst our external celebrations may not have been as elaborate this year, it was a delight to see so many parents at our lunch time picnic. This is a great indicator that cultural harmony and community spirit go hand in hand in our terrific school.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day

During class our students have been recognising and acknowledging the benefits of cultural harmony. Students from K-6 have been exploring the concept of ‘Harmony-Everyone Belongs’. The importance of this concept is constantly recognised at Yuluma and we thank all students, parents and community members for their contributions in supporting this concept to grow throughout the year.

Movie Night

The P&C Fundraising Committee continue to be extremely busy arranging yet another fabulous community event. On Friday night the Yuluma Outdoor Picture Garden will open for the movie

“The Book of Life” Thank you to all that have been involved in the organisation. The amount of time and energy that has been generously donated for this event is appreciated by all and I’m certain it will be as successful as last year’s movie night.

ICAS testing

This year we will again offer ICAS testing to students from Year 2-6 in the areas of English and Maths. The testing is not compulsory, but is available to families who may like to participate. There is a cost of $8.80 each subject, which needs to be paid by 20th May. Forms can be collected form the office. Attendance

If your child is absent for school we require an explanation for the absence as soon as the child returns to school. A reply to the text message you receive when your child is absent will suffice. Thank you to those families that continue to keep us informed.

Edudance Concert

The Edudance Concert is getting closer. All classes have been informed of the dress requirements for the concert. Please check your child’s diary or the notice board outside junior primary classes if you are unsure about what your child will require.
